Gulliermo Belcore in his blog , recommends "The banks" by Enrique Wernicke (library recoveries, Intellectual Capital Publishing), which qualifies as a delas best novels ever written in Argentina:
A John Berger Creole and at the same, a remarkable stylist. A leftist who believes that art has a social mission and wrote a fair and transparent prose. He has been compared to Carver, but I think it contains a poetic brilliance which the U.S. lacks. There are passages in philosophy exquisite neighborhood. Transcribe the beginning of the book to reflect the beauty of Wernicke style:

The bank was published in 1955. It tells the story of a heartbroken bourgeois and indifferent (Wernicke's alter ego) that are held in the rugged coast of Vicente López to heal the despair and self loathing.
