Jorge Luis Borges photographed by Humberto Rivas
Argentine photographer Humberto Luis Rivas died Saturday in Barcelona at age 72. Called the photographer of silence, by the fact that in his photographs of portraits tried to capture the inner qualities of the portraits, Humberto Rivas arrived in Spain in 1976 and settled in Barcelona. His work has been recognized throughout his career with various awards including the Prize of the City Arts Barcelona in 1996 and the National Photography Prize in 1997. His work is in collections such as the Televisa Cultural Foundation in Mexico, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Mar del Plata, Arginine, Los Angeles Country Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, United States, the National Library Paris and the art collection of Fundación La Caixa, Barcelona.
